ALOT has happened since the 17th of April.
but i'll attempt to compress the update.

it's already 2 weeks after the Easter break so everything seems back to normal
the ritual morning hurry scurry, the afternoon dash back home, the evening meal together, the night dozing off infront of the tele (for some of us anyway).
time seems to be flying faster the busier we get.

Last week, pa had a whole intense week of examining with some days brimming with piano candidates.
i'm not surprised how grateful he must have been to get the odd singing candidate, belting out songs from musicals.
at the end of the week, we all landed in Bournemouth.
thank God for the sunny weather despite the chilly sea-side wind.



it was lovely to see such a big mass of water in a long time.
for me and justin, to feel soft sand between our toes.
to enjoy a hot wrap of fish n chips.
and to have all the reason in the world to enjoy some ice-cream in spring.
it was a good day actually, overly relaxing.

as for mom, she's got her school musical/play next week.
hopefully everything will go well.
but speaking of music, pa had his mini band concert on thursday night.
which went well despite the lack of numbers.
i'm glad my throat didn't give in to a hoarse-y performance on my part.

Justin is not working yet due to his coming 5day continuous training at ASDA.
which will occur over half-term.
so needless to say, he's spent today chiefly infront of the computer.

this week has zoomed by faster than i've played one song over 20 times.
kudos to the repeat function on Windows Media Player.

with the Hengs coming to visit pretty soon.
this week was spent clearing up the spare bedroom.
mainly owing to my frequent visits there, dumping junk from my own little room.
plastic bags and what have you.
well, it's all done now and everything's so neat and tidy.
soon i won't be able to resist "borrowing" some of that space for my own.

besides me paying the price of last week's full-time slacking. (ie working everyday this week)
JUSTIN has got a JOB!
praise the Lord! my brother is now a part of the All-American establishment of Walmart.
at ASDA you get everything cheap and good.
i'm proud to say i shop there myself.
and everything is green too! my favourite colour.

so next monday it's back to school for everyone except pa.
will be interesting to see what justin has to say after his first day at work.

Good Friday March

Christians from across Basingstoke gathered in front of the United Reformed Church for this year's march.
We missed it last year as we were holidaying in Austria.
But the turn out seemed to be just as good as 2 years ago.
to think that 2 years have gone by so quilckly.

what i liked about it was that we were able to sing hymms in such a public place.
People strolling by. they didn't really show much expression and tried to avoid us. but i believe they would ahve recognised the tunes we sang.
Jemima was asked to do a reading from Mark in the middle of town.
the microphone was helpful.

After the march, Tonni and I walked over to St Micheal's Church for a cup of coffee.
There was a good sense of community as people had their hot drink and a hot cross bun.

the Easter Break

we're more than half way into the 2 week Easter break
and visited a few people already.
most of the holiday so far has been visiting and resting.
well deserved break for mum especially.

on friday, we drove to Oxford to visit mum's old friend Aunty Malika
was a lovely day walking into town in the sunshine, exchanging our singapore-influenced stories on life in the UK, talking about everything from politics to family to food.
and speaking of food, we had a lovely meal at the famous Brown's.
primo service and delectable food accompanied by the old charm of the venue's decore, adding to the enjoyable experience.

the weekend went by very quickly, with the ritual saturday outting to town and sunday morning church service.

tuesday soon came and we headed off to Nottingham to visit uncle Dan's sister.
Aunty Angeline and the family welcomed us warmly.
and speaking to a Singaporean, again, proved balm to the soul.
she even prepared Chicken Rice (Spore style) for our dinner which was more than divine.
justin and me even had more at Breakfast
to get our authentic-singaporean-food-kick for the month.


soon after breakfast, we were immediately off to Cambridge to visit mum's cousin.
aunty Caroline and the family were waiting for us to bring them curry for lunch, which we all enjoyed i believe, since we all ate pretty quickly.
an afternoon walk with the clouds following our route and tea and cake and more chat.
we exchanged farewells and made our long way home, only arriving after dark, relishing in some KFC along the way.

i think i'm going to call that a trip around major university towns in a few days.
not very catchy i know, but it works.
